Libusa at the Rail Partners Fleet Software & Cybersecurity Conference
Mar 11, 2024The Rail Partners Fleet Software and Cyber Security Conference on 28th February served to inform, educate and inspire the attendees on the related – but distinct – topics of software safety and cyber security assurance of rolling stock fleets.
The level and breadth of attendees really highlighted how the train operating community is starting to engage with the challenge of assurance here as digitalisation and connectivity of rail assets continues to rapidly evolve. A range of presenters from the TOCs, ROSCOs and Network Rail spoke on a number of interconnected topics that served as a call to arms to redouble efforts to bring effective assurance.
On the topic of software safety assurance two recurring themes were the need to ensure adequate competence in software safety assurance within UK rail companies, and the need to fully embed compliance with the Rail Industry Standard RIS-0745-CCS “Client safety assurance of high integrity software-based systems for railway applications” which has now been in force for 18 months. Fortunately, Libusa was on hand to raise awareness of our e-learning course “Railway Software Safety as a Client: Practitioners Masterclass (UK)” which has been specifically developed to meet these twin objectives, something which was quickly recognised by a number of the train operators in attendance.
It was universally recognised that this conference was the very start of an industry push on these topics, and Libusa looks forward to helping the UK industry build the expert competencies it will need to safely and securely benefit from the many benefits new digital technologies are bringing.
